Submit

We welcome your archived short stories, poems, nonfiction, journal entries, photographs, paintings, videos, songs, dramas, drawings, colorfully worded emails, book chapters, etc. As long as it is literary or artistic and representative of your creative past, it will be considered for publication. These must be accompanied by supplementary writing. Some examples that we are looking for:

A poem from your 25-year-old notebook of writings accompanied by a personal essay about said poem in relation to your poetry career.
The first fantasy short story you ever wrote accompanied by a revised/improved version.
An aesthetic polaroid accompanied by a poem.
A journal entry from your old childhood diary accompanied by a journal entry from the present.
A painting you did in an art class accompanied by a song.
One of the first attempts at a short film accompanied by a new drama script.

These are just some potential examples. We welcome unique ideas.

There are three routes one can take for submissions:

Digital archives and writing: Please send all submissions in either a PDF or Word document to fromthearchiveslitmag@gmail.com. If you would like to send a video, directly attach small videos (under 20-25 MB) by clicking the paperclip icon in your email and selecting the file, or you can upload large videos to a cloud storage service like Google Drive, and then insert a shareable link into the email body.

Pictures of physical archives: If you have something that requires a picture be taken of it (a handwritten poem, a painting, etc.), please make sure that it is clear, well lit, and legible. Pictures can be sent as an attachment in email, or if it is easier, pictures can be sent to this number: 614-202-8539. The supplementary writing should be sent in email, however, in a PDF or Word document. Please provide your name on both so that we can match works to the same artist.

Please provide a name and return address so that they can be sent back to you after publication.

Requirements for submission: There is no maximum or minimum length. Along with your work, please send a short biography and picture. Also, to the best of your ability, please provide dates for when both pieces were written or created.
